A cement-based surface leveling screed that contains chemical additives to create a pore-free structure and facilitate easy spreading.
What are the features and advantages of Leveling Screed?
- It spreads automatically and levels itself.
- It has high adhesion strength.
- It is suitable for application in thicknesses of 2.5-10 mm without shrinkage, cracking, or deterioration.
- It has high bending and compressive strength.
- It is resistant to wear.
Where is Leveling Screed used?
- It is used to achieve a smooth surface under PVC, linoleum, laminate flooring, hardwood, carpet, and ceramic coatings.
- It is used for leveling concrete and screed surfaces.
- It smooths and levels existing paving, mosaic, and natural stone surfaces.
- It creates a wear-resistant surface on floors exposed to heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic, such as warehouses and depots.
How to use Leveling Screed?
Surface Preparation:
The surface to be applied should be free from dust, dirt, rust, and oil; loose particles should be scraped off. Cracked plaster, weak surfaces, and other sub-surfaces that cannot bear weight should be removed along with any mortar or cement residues. Surfaces requiring repair, such as depressions and gaps, should be filled with structural repair mortar products at least 1-2 hours before the screed application and leveled. Mineral-based sub-surfaces with normal and even absorbency should be primed with 512 at least 24 hours before application. To prevent cracks caused by expansion during drying, a polystyrene foam sheet should be placed to separate the screed from walls or other structural elements. In large areas, grids of a maximum of 3×3 meters should be created to prevent level differences and ensure smooth application. The application thickness should be determined considering the smoothness and porosity characteristics of the floor. In areas with significant surface imperfections or for large areas, using a screed leveling guide (mastar) is important.
Application Instructions:
25 kg of 601 should be slowly poured into 5.5 – 6.0 liters of water and mixed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. The mixture should be prepared using a low-speed mixer. No additives not specified in the application instructions should be added. The prepared mixture should rest for 2-3 minutes to mature. The prepared flowing consistency of 601 should be poured onto the surface. The thickness of the self-leveling mixture should be adjusted with a steel trowel. During the application, a spiked roller should be used to avoid air bubbles in the product and to facilitate the spreading process.
